Our board oversees our strategy, governance and performance. They make sure we use our resources in a way that's effective, efficient and in the interests of our patients and all Queenslanders.

Sue Scheinpflug – Board Chair
Sue Scheinpflug
Sue Scheinpflug has more than 20 years of experience as a Chief Executive Officer in the human services and health sectors and holds the following roles:
- Board Chair – Health Translation Queensland
- Board Chair – UQ Health Care
- Deputy Chair – CPL (Choice, Passion, Life)
- Board member – Ipswich Hospital Foundation
- Community Board Member – Parole Board Queensland.
Sue has a degree in teaching and education and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jeff Dunn AO
Jeff Dunn
Jeff Dunn is the University of Southern Queensland’s Professor of Social and Behavioural Science and Chair of Cancer Survivorship.
He is the Immediate Past President of the Geneva based Union for International Cancer Control and Chief of Mission and Head of Research at Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Lyn Birnie
Lyn Birnie
Lyn Birnie is a senior finance leader with more than 35 years experience in major mining companies and Queensland Government-owned power generators.
She’s on the board of several organisations and community groups, including:
- Ipswich Hospital Foundation
- East Coast Apprenticeships
- the Legacy Club of Ipswich
- Independent Regional Advocacy Service Inc.
Lyn is a Certified Practising Accountant and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
She has a Bachelor of Business and a Master of Business Administration.
Mike Bosel
Mike Bosel
Mike Bosel is an experienced Chief Executive Officer and senior health care executive officer. He has more than 30 years experience working in public and private companies and not-for-profit organisations in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Mike has overseen the delivery of services in a range of areas, including:
- residential and community aged care
- mental health
- children, family and carer support
- homelessness outreach
- community health education.
He holds the following roles:
- Chief Executive Officer – Brisbane South Primary Health Network (PHN)
- Board member – Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA)
- Primary Care Committee member – Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.
Mike is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and has a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Business (Honours).
Darren Brown
Darren Brown
Darren Brown has more than 35 years experience working as a paramedic and in industrial and government relations.
He's a Queensland Project Officer with the Health Services Union, specialising in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
Darren's past roles include:
- Queensland Ambulance Service Liaison Officer to the Office of the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services
- Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service board member.
Darren has qualifications in paramedicine, and training and assessment.
Temira Dewis
Temira Dewis
Temira Dewis is a Kaantju, Uthalganu and Ayapathu woman from the central and east coast of Cape York in Queensland. She has extensive experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations and in the public sector.
Temira is the Director of Strategy at ABSTARR Consulting and Board Chair for the Southern Kaantju Aboriginal Corporation. Her work involves change reforms, cultural safety and embedding the views of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples into policy and practice.
Temira has a Bachelor of Commerce (Management, Accounting and Human Resource Management). She’s also doing a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health.
Cathryn Hester
Cathryn Hester
Dr Cathryn Hester is a medical specialist and leader in general practice. She's a practice owner and has worked in clinical medicine in the Ipswich region for more than a decade.
Cathryn is a national board member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and chairs their Queensland Council.
She's a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Medical).
Gerald Holtmann
Gerald Holtmann
Professor Gerald Holtmann is a medical specialist in gastroenterology. He has extensive academic and organisational leadership experience.
He holds the following roles:
- Director Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology – Princess Alexandra Hospital
- Director Clinical Innovation, Health Faculties – The University of Queensland (UQ)
- board member – UQ Health Care.
Gerald has a Master of Business Administration.
Deanne Minniecon
Deanne Minniecon
Adjunct Associate Professor Deanne Minniecon has Aboriginal (Goreng Goreng) and Torres Strait Islander (Erub) heritage. She has more than 25 years experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and education.
Deanne is the National Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement with Diabetes Australia. She’s a board member for Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN (primary health network) and has held past roles at:
- Health and Wellbeing Queensland
- Brisbane South PHN
- Queensland Government.
Deanne has a Master in Health Science (Health Promotion) and a Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion.
Stephen Robertson
Stephen Robertson
Stephen Robertson is a former MP and senior Minister in the Queensland Government.
In his 13 years of ministerial service, Stephen held the portfolios of Health, Energy, Water, Mines, Natural Resources, Trade and Emergency Services.
Stephen is now the Director for Marketing, Stakeholder Engagement and Strategy at Planet Ark Power. The company is a leading provider of clean energy solutions and technology.
He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Griffith University.
Gail Jukes
Gail Jukes
Gail Jukes is a senior executive with more than 20 years experience in financial management, strategic planning and governance. She's held leadership roles in both the public and private sectors.
Gail is currently the Chief Financial Officer at The University of Queensland and is a non-executive board director for both SunWater and Economic Development Queensland. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and is a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA).
