Arriving at the hospital

General access and car parking use the main entrance on Chelmsford Avenue (Ward Block).

Emergency department – use the lane entrance on Chelmsford Avenue.

Outpatient day clinics and allied health – use the entrance on East Street (Tower Block).

Mental health inpatient services – use the entrance on Kallara Avenue.

Pick up and drop off

We have pick up and drop off areas at our main entrances. You can only park here for 2 minutes.

  • East Street – Tower Block
  • Chelmsford Avenue – emergency entry
  • Chelmsford Avenue – Ward Block
  • Kallara Avenue – Mental Health Inpatient Service

Parking

We have 2 multi-level car parks opposite the main hospital entrance on Chelmsford Avenue. They're open 24 hours a day and have a vehicle height limit of 2.1 metres.

Parking costs

Parking costs $3 per hour. The maximum daily rate is $21.

How to pay

You can pay for parking at the:

  • pay stations on the red level, using cash or card
  • boom gate when you're leaving, using your credit or debit card.

Parking discounts

The Ipswich Hospital Foundation (IHF) manages our car parks. You can park for $5 a day if you set up an account on their website. For help setting up your account call IHF Parking on 1300 736 428 or email carpark@ihfoundation.org.au.

Accessible parking

There's accessible parking on the red levels in both car parks. You must display an Australian or international disability parking permit to use these car spaces. These permits don't give you free or discounted parking rates.

Street parking

There's free and paid street parking around the hospital, including accessible spaces for people with a parking permit. For more information, read the Ipswich City Council Parking Guide.

Ipswich Health Plaza parking

You can also park in our multi-level car park at Ipswich Health Plaza on Bell Street. This car park is about a 10 minute walk from Ipswich Hospital.

Concessional parking

You may be able to get concessional parking if you're:

  • a patient or carer, and need to go to hospital often
  • over 65 and getting an Age Pension
  • getting a Disability Support Pension or have a Health Care Card
  • caring for a patient and get a Carer Payment
  • a veteran with a Gold Card
  • dealing with financial problems or have special needs.

Applying for concessional parking

You can download a concessional parking application form [PDF 85.36 KB] or pick one up from our hospital information desks below.

  • Tower Block main entrance, East Street

Fill in the form and take it to our reception desk on level 6 in the Ward Block. We're open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, and we'll process your application the next business day.

To get the discounted parking rate of $5 a day you'll also need to set up an online account with IHF Parking.

Motorcycle parking

Ipswich Hospital Car Park P1

You can find motorcycle parking to the right just after the boom gate – take a ticket as you enter. You can't park your motorcycle on the pedestrian path leading to the P1 car park.

Ipswich Hospital Car Park P2

You can park your motorcycle for free at P2 in the signed areas. If these spots are full, take a ticket when you enter and park in any empty car space.

Parking discounts for motorcycles

You can get a discounted parking rate of $5 a day for motorcycle parking. Take your ticket to the IHF office on P2 red level. They're open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Buses

Ipswich Hospital, Stop A

Bus routes 503, 515 and 5241 stop at the main entrance of the hospital on Chelmsford Avenue.

Ipswich Hospital Stop C

Bus routes 509, 5208, 5220, 5254, 6203, 6221 and 6247 stop at the bus stop on Churchill Street.

Bell Street

You can take several other bus routes from the Bell Street bus station, 10 minutes walk from the hospital.

Trains

The closest train station is Ipswich train station on the Ipswich/Rosewood line. The station is on Bell Street and is a 10 minute walk from the hospital.

STAR transport

You'll find a STAR transport phone at the main entrance of Ward Block, Chelmsford Avenue.

STAR offers affordable transport for older people, people with disability, and for anyone who needs help getting around. For more details, visit the STAR Community Services website.

Shuttle buses

We have free shuttle buses for patients, visitors, and staff. The shuttle bus runs between Ipswich Hospital and the Limestone Park car park in both directions. It operates Monday to Friday, but not on public holidays.
