Medical internships

You can apply for medical internships at Ipswich hospital.

Our internships are for one year. Most are full time and may include:

  • remote call
  • overtime
  • night shifts.

Our education program for interns include:

  • 2 education sessions a week
  • tutorial and practical based learning
  • weekly departmental presentations
  • case study reviews, grand rounds, and journal clubs
  • meetings to review teamwork and training strategies
  • demonstrations and workshops on plastering, ECG, advanced life support and many more.

Rotations and specialisms

Your training will include core rotations in medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine and elective rotations, including:

  • paediatrics (rural generalist)
  • obstetrics and gynaecology (rural generalist)
  • mental health
  • palliative care
  • cardiology
  • ear, nose and throat
  • urology
  • rehabilitation medicine
  • geriatric medicine.

To be eligible you’ll need:

If you’re an international applicant, you’ll also need your Australian Medical Council MCQ exam and certificate and a valid visa.
