Help shape local healthcare by joining our Consumer and Community Advisory Council

Read time

We’re looking for six passionate community members to join West Moreton Health’s Consumer and Community Advisory Council (CCAC).

We believe that the best healthcare is designed with the people who use it, and that’s why we want to hear from you.

Your experiences, ideas, and feedback will help shape the way we design and deliver health services in our region.

What the advisory council does

The CCAC is a group of local people who work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff and leaders across West Moreton Health. Members share their lived experiences, offer advice, and provide feedback to help us:

  • improve health services so they better meet community needs
  • identify issues and opportunities for better care
  • ensure patients, carers, and families have a say in decisions that affect them.

By joining the council, you’ll help create meaningful change in how healthcare is delivered across our region.

Who can join

We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds who:

  • live in or have a strong connection to the West Moreton Health region (e.g. through work, family, or community involvement)
  • care about public health and want to make a difference
  • have personal experience as a patient, carer, or support person (preferred, but not required)
  • are involved in local groups or networks (helpful, but not essential)
  • are willing to attend meetings and share their perspectives.

We value diversity and encourage applications from people of all cultural backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.

Payment

Council members receive $150 per meeting to cover attendance, discussions between meetings and transport costs.

How the council works and what’s involved

The CACC includes 15 community members, supported by West Moreton Health leaders who actively listen and respond to your feedback.

Meetings are held every six weeks for three hours, with dates set in advance.

While in-person attendance is encouraged, an online option is also available, and members can stay connected between meetings via an online discussion portal.

As a council member, you will:

  • attend and participate in meetings
  • share your experiences and perspectives to improve services
  • collaborate with West Moreton Health leaders on key health priorities
  • participate in optional projects, staff forums, media opportunities, and community events.

Senior executives and Board members occasionally join meetings to hear directly from you and discuss healthcare priorities.

Membership is rotated as needed, with experienced members mentoring new members to ensure a strong, ongoing community voice in decision-making.
