West Moreton Health is running a clinical trial to test a new injection that may slow the progress of early Alzheimer’s disease.
We are looking for people to take part in TRAILRUNNER-ALZ 3, a phase 3 clinical trial from Eli Lilly and Company.
Participants must be between 65 and 80 years.
A free blood test is required to check for early signs of Alzheimer’s disease before joining the trial.
Alzheimer’s disease is a leading cause of dementia.
It causes challenges for both patients and their families. Right now, there are very few treatments that change the course of the disease.
This trial will test if the new treatment can help slow the decline in memory and daily functions caused by Alzheimer’s.
The treatment targets and removes amyloid plaques in the brain, which are linked to the disease.
Please consider applying if you have a family history of Alzheimer’s or notice changes in memory or thinking.
What the trial involves:
- injections every four to eight weeks for 18 months
- regular check-ups and monitoring for about five years
- MRI scans
To be eligible, participants must:
- be between 65 and 80 years old
- be in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, or at risk of developing it
- be willing to take a blood test for Alzheimer’s biomarkers
- have a reliable study partner to help with visits
- be able to attend up to 16 visits at Ipswich Hospital over five years.
Participants will receive payment for their time.
