More than 50,000 people have received care at the Ripley Satellite Hospital since it opened its doors one year ago.
In that time, more than 28,000 people have presented to the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic for medical treatment and about 22,000 people have attended a specialist outpatient.
West Moreton Health Chief Executive Hannah Bloch said the opening of the Ripley Satellite Hospital had helped expand access to healthcare in the region.
“The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic has given people in West Moreton another option for same-day treatment of a minor condition, while also easing some of the demand for services at our emergency departments,” Ms Bloch said.
“We have been overwhelmed by the beautiful feedback from community members about the care they have received at Ripley Satellite Hospital over the past 12 months.
“The first birthday is an opportunity to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of everyone involved in planning, building and setting up Ripley Satellite Hospital and the services that it now offers.”
The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic was the first operating service at Ripley Satellite Hospital, opening its doors on 30 August 2023.
Limb or joint pain tops the list for most common ailments people have sought care at the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic, followed by coughs and colds, rashes and lacerations.
Patients presenting to the clinic are also most likely to hail from Redbank Plains, Ripley/South Ripley, Springfield Lakes, Raceview and Flinders View.
From September 2023, West Moreton Health began offering specialist outpatient appointments at Ripley Satellite Hospital for a wide range of needs from antenatal care, gynaecology, paediatrics and audiology to diabetes education and geriatrics care.
Medical imaging services were also introduced from September 2023 and more than 10,000 scans and x-rays have since been provided at Ripley Satellite Hospital.
The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic is not an emergency department.
It offers urgent care for minor injuries and illnesses when patients cannot wait for a GP appointment.
